Windows Movie Maker has been upated and given a nice new makeover for Vista and the upcoming Windows 7 operating system, movie maker is free and part of the Windows Live Essential desktop software package which includes the everp popular Messenger, Photo Gallery, Mail, Writer, Family Safety and Toolbar.
Microsoft has given it a revamp and the traditional menus have been replaced for the "Ribbon" as found in Office 2007 and other latest releases, I have just started to play around with it and if you have not used Office 2007 before the new interface could be confusing but you will get used to it quite quickly as with Office.
The new features look impressive and first impressions are good, transitions and effects look easy to use and there are more to choose from with a handy preview which will let you see the effect before adding it to your movie, I managed to complete a very simple movie with music in under 5 mins without using the Automovie feature. The movie publishing has been much improved for the basic user and my simple video was saved, and published to YouTube in under 2 mins.
If you have Vista then it is well worth trying out, you can download it from here.
