Facebook Facial Recognition

Facebook Facial RecognitionFacebook has introduced a new feature called Tag Suggestions which has upset quite a few people concerned about their privacy on the service, it's a feature that has been included in other tools such as Picasa and will simply compare the tagged photos and suggest new ones which it thinks are the same people.

If you would like to disable this feature it is quite straightforward and here is how.

Facial recognition is a feature that is turned on by default. To turn off Facebook facial recognition,

  • Select account at the top of your profile
  • Select Privacy Settings from the drop down menu
  • Click on Customize Settings.
  • Scroll down to the Suggest Photos of Me to Friends setting and
  • Select Edit Settings.
  • In the drop-down on the right, choose Disable.
  • This will turn off Facebook racial recognition and your friends will now have to manually tag you instead of Facebook automatically suggesting you to tag.

Facebook tells us all about it here.
